Trauma can live on long after the event, in sleep, relationships, and the body's sense of safety. Our trauma therapy is careful and well paced, combining EMDR with psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and somatic approaches. In person in Bryn Mawr or virtually across Pennsylvania.

People come to trauma therapy after sexual assault, relationship violence, accidents, medical trauma, or a childhood that didn't feel safe. Others come because of what trauma left behind: hypervigilance, nightmares, numbness, or reactions that feel bigger than the moment.
You don't need to have a label for your experience to begin.
EMDR uses guided bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements, while you briefly hold a memory in mind. Over sessions, the memory tends to feel more distant and less charged, and the beliefs attached to it, like 'I'm not safe' or 'it was my fault', loosen.
EMDR isn't the right first step for everyone. We start by building stability and coping skills so processing feels safe when it begins.
Being trauma-informed means you set the pace and stay in control of what you share. Katie is skilled at pacing trauma treatment and has extensive experience with survivors of sexual trauma and relationship violence.
When sleep, anxiety, or depression make therapy harder, our board-certified psychiatrist, Dr. Raena Khorram, can coordinate medication care within the same practice, so your care stays connected.

Request KatieEMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured, evidence-based therapy for trauma. It helps the brain reprocess distressing memories so they lose their emotional charge, without requiring you to describe every detail out loud.
No. Many people seek trauma therapy for experiences that still shape how they feel, react, or relate to others, whether or not they meet criteria for PTSD. We start with what is affecting your life now.
Individual therapy is $180 per 50-minute session. We are out-of-network by design and provide a superbill after each session so you can submit for out-of-network reimbursement.
Yes. EMDR and trauma therapy are offered in person in Bryn Mawr and virtually throughout Pennsylvania.
It varies. Some people work on a single event over a focused course of sessions; complex or long-standing trauma usually takes longer. Pacing is set with you, and stabilization comes before processing.
