Therapist

Angela is a licensed clinical social worker with over 20 years of experience as a therapist. She graduated from the Bryn Mawr College Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research and completed both the Child and Adult Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Training Programs at the Philadelphia Psychoanalytic Center, where she also taught. Today she supervises therapists working in private practices and school settings.

She applies her clinical experience across the lifespan — from infant/mother dyads to adults as mature as ninety-two. With professional expertise and passionate interest, Angela helps people move confidently through transition, loss, relationship conflict, and challenges that are hard to solve on their own.

Her experience with adolescents and young adults has familiarized her with peer struggle, feelings of inadequacy, stress, and self-injury. Her work ranges from college students separating from their families and developing autonomy and a sense of self, to people navigating infertility, parenthood, and aging.

Although psychodynamic training anchors her work, Angela employs trauma-informed treatment, mindfulness, play therapy, and aspects of cognitive-behavioral therapy, depending on what fits the person best.

She works with many families to reduce conflict and deepen relationships, believing relationships provide a path for growth and that her job is to help people develop healthy, generative relationships with themselves, their families, and their communities. In her view, psychotherapy is a collaborative and creative process — brief or extensive, depending on the person's goals and the complexity of the issues.
