Frequently asked questions
I am functioning fine at work. Do I still need therapy?+
Functioning is not the same as being well. Many of the women we see are performing at a high level while running on depletion, resentment, and 4 a.m. worry. Therapy is appropriate long before things fall apart.
Is this burnout or depression?+
They overlap and are often confused. Burnout is tied to demand and recovery; depression persists even when the demand lifts. Part of the evaluation is telling them apart, because the treatment differs.
How long are sessions and how often?+
Therapy sessions are 50 minutes, typically weekly at the start. Psychiatric intakes are 85 minutes with 30-minute follow-ups — deliberately longer than a standard med check.
Do you treat perinatal and postpartum mood changes?+
Yes — pregnancy, postpartum, fertility treatment, and the identity shifts around them, with careful attention to medication safety and lactation questions.
Can I be seen outside of work hours or virtually?+
We offer virtual care throughout Pennsylvania, and Dr. Khorram is licensed in New York for virtual psychiatric care. Scheduling flexibility is one of the reasons our patients stay in treatment.
Will therapy make me less driven?+
No. The goal is to keep the ambition and remove the parts of it that are costing you sleep, health, and relationships — perfectionism, over-functioning, and difficulty stopping.
