Telehealth psychiatry · New York State

A virtual psychiatrist for patients across New York

Dr. Raena Khorram is licensed in New York and Pennsylvania and sees New York patients entirely by telehealth — from Manhattan and Brooklyn to Westchester, the Hudson Valley, Long Island, and upstate. Concierge psychiatry means 85-minute evaluations, 30-minute follow-ups, direct access to your physician, and care that is intentional and personalized rather than scheduled around an insurer.

Private setting used for virtual psychiatry appointments with New York patients

Available virtually throughout New York

Because care is delivered by secure video, your location within the state does not limit access — only that you are physically in New York or Pennsylvania at the time of your appointment.

New York City

Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island.

Westchester

Scarsdale, Rye, Bronxville, White Plains, and surrounding communities.

Hudson Valley

Commuter and second-home patients who want continuity in both places.

Long Island

North and South Shore patients seeking care without the drive into the city.

What virtual care includes

  1. 1

    An 85-minute psychiatric evaluation

A complete diagnostic picture — history, prior treatment, medical and hormonal factors, sleep, substances, and the life you are actually living.

  2. 2

    Medication management

Thirty-minute follow-ups with the same physician throughout, with e-prescribing to the pharmacy you choose.

  3. 3

    Therapy with your psychiatrist

Fifty-minute therapy sessions are available with Dr. Khorram, so insight and pharmacology are held by one clinician rather than split.

  4. 4

    Direct access between visits

Concierge means you can reach your psychiatrist with clinical questions instead of waiting weeks for the next slot.

  5. 5

    Coordination with your other clinicians

We work alongside your internist, OB-GYN, or existing therapist when you already have people you trust.

Why patients choose this over a larger platform

Telehealth companies optimize for volume: short appointments, rotating prescribers, and a questionnaire in place of a conversation. This is the opposite arrangement — one physician, longer appointments, and a plan built around your history rather than a protocol. If something is not working, the person who prescribed it is the person who fixes it.

Frequently asked questions

Are you licensed to treat patients in New York?+

Yes. Dr. Raena Khorram is licensed in both Pennsylvania and New York and is the practice's New York prescriber. New York patients are seen entirely by telehealth, which is fully permitted for psychiatric care in the state.

Where in New York do you see patients?+

Anywhere in the state, since care is virtual — New York City and all five boroughs, Westchester, the Hudson Valley, Long Island, and upstate. You need to be physically located in New York or Pennsylvania at the time of the appointment.

Is virtual psychiatry as effective as in-person?+

For diagnostic evaluation, medication management, and psychotherapy, the evidence supports telehealth as comparable to in-person care for most patients. Where an in-person element genuinely matters — certain physical monitoring, or interventional treatment like TMS — we say so and coordinate accordingly.

How long are appointments?+

The initial psychiatric evaluation is 85 minutes. Medication follow-ups are 30 minutes and therapy sessions with Dr. Khorram are 50 minutes. The longer format is deliberate: it is what allows the care to be thorough rather than transactional.

Can you prescribe medication to New York patients virtually?+

Yes, for the medications appropriate to telehealth prescribing under current federal and New York state rules. Prescriptions are sent electronically to your preferred pharmacy. Certain controlled substances carry additional requirements, which we review with you directly rather than in general terms.

Who is this well suited for?+

High-functioning professionals whose schedules do not tolerate waiting rooms, people who have cycled through insurance-based practices and short appointments, and patients who want one physician who knows their whole history. We see adolescents 16+ and adults.

Do you take New York insurance?+

We are an out-of-network concierge practice and do not bill insurance directly. We provide superbills you can submit to your plan for possible out-of-network reimbursement, which many New York plans offer at meaningful rates.

Can New York patients access your accelerated TMS program?+

Yes. TMS itself requires being physically present in our Bryn Mawr office, but the course is delivered over a single week, which several out-of-state patients have combined with a short stay. Evaluation and follow-up care remain virtual.

What happens in an urgent situation?+

Concierge access means direct communication with your psychiatrist between appointments for clinical questions. We are not an emergency service; if you are in crisis, call 988 or go to your nearest emergency department, and we coordinate care afterward.
