Medication management on the Main Line, done thoughtfully
Psychiatric medication works best when someone is paying close attention. At Bryn Mawr Mental Health and Wellness, medication management means an 85-minute evaluation, 30-minute follow-ups, and one board-certified psychiatrist who knows your history — not a rotating cast and a 15-minute med check. Available in person in Bryn Mawr and virtually across Pennsylvania and greater New York State.

What we manage medication for
Depression
First-episode through long-standing and recurrent depression, including partial responders.
Anxiety & panic
Generalized anxiety, panic disorder, social anxiety, and health anxiety.
ADHD
Careful diagnostic clarification in adults and adolescents before and during stimulant or non-stimulant treatment.
Bipolar spectrum
Mood stabilization with attention to long-term tolerability, not just acute control.
OCD & PTSD
Evidence-based pharmacology paired with the therapy modalities these conditions require.
Perinatal & perimenopausal mood
Hormonal transitions handled with the nuance they deserve rather than a default prescription.
How medication management works here
- 1
An 85-minute psychiatric evaluation
We take a full history — symptoms, medical conditions, prior trials, sleep, substances, family history, and what is actually happening in your life — before proposing a plan.
- 2
A plan you understand
You leave knowing what we are prescribing, why that agent over the alternatives, what to expect in the first weeks, and how we will judge whether it is working.
- 3
30-minute follow-ups
Long enough to review response and side effects honestly, adjust deliberately, and revisit the diagnosis when the response does not fit.
- 4
Therapy in the same practice
Our licensed psychotherapists work alongside your prescriber, so medication and therapy inform each other instead of running in parallel.
- 5
Interventional options when needed
If depression has not responded to well-conducted medication trials, we offer an FDA-cleared accelerated TMS course delivered over one week.
Serving the Main Line
Our Bryn Mawr office is a short drive from Ardmore, Haverford, Villanova, Radnor, Wayne, Gladwyne, Narberth, and Rosemont. Many established patients keep their medication follow-ups virtual and come in periodically, which keeps care consistent around work and school schedules.
Frequently asked questions
What is psychiatric medication management?+
Medication management is the ongoing clinical work of selecting, starting, adjusting, combining, and — when appropriate — tapering psychiatric medication. It includes tracking response and side effects over time, reviewing interactions with other medications, and revisiting the diagnosis if the response does not fit expectations.
How is this different from a 15-minute med check?+
Insurance-driven practices often schedule 15-minute follow-ups. Our follow-up appointments are 30 minutes and our intake is 85 minutes, which is enough time to actually understand sleep, stress, substance use, hormonal factors, and life context before changing a prescription. That is the difference between adjusting a dose and understanding a person.
Who prescribes at Bryn Mawr Mental Health and Wellness?+
Dr. Raena Khorram, a board-certified psychiatrist and the founder of the practice, leads all psychopharmacological care. She is licensed in Pennsylvania and New York, so medication management is available in person on the Main Line and virtually across both states.
Can I do medication management and therapy in the same practice?+
Yes, and that integration is the point. When your prescriber and therapist are in the same practice, medication decisions are informed by what is actually happening in therapy — and therapy adapts as medication changes. You are not left coordinating between two offices.
What if I want to reduce or come off my medication?+
That is a legitimate goal and we take it seriously. Tapering is planned deliberately, at a pace your nervous system can tolerate, with therapy and lifestyle supports in place so you are not left without scaffolding. We will be honest about the risk of relapse for your specific history.
What conditions do you manage medication for?+
Depression, anxiety disorders, panic disorder, OCD, ADHD, bipolar spectrum conditions, PTSD, insomnia related to psychiatric illness, and perinatal and perimenopausal mood changes. We see adolescents 16+ and adults.
What if several medications have already failed?+
We review what was actually tried — which agents, at what dose, and for how long — because many 'failed' trials were under-dosed or too brief. When depression is genuinely treatment-resistant, we also offer an FDA-cleared accelerated TMS course delivered over one week.
Do you take insurance?+
We are an out-of-network concierge practice. We provide superbills you can submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Staying out of network is what allows the longer appointments and direct access this model depends on.
