ADHD care · Bryn Mawr & the Main Line

ADHD evaluation and medication management in Bryn Mawr

Attention problems are rarely just attention problems. Sleep, anxiety, mood, and the sheer volume of a demanding life all shape how focus fails. Our ADHD care begins with a genuinely unhurried psychiatric evaluation and continues with expert psychopharmacological care — in person in Bryn Mawr, or virtually throughout Pennsylvania.

What brings people in

Adults diagnosed late, or never

Years of compensating that stopped working under a bigger workload.

Adolescents 16+ under academic load

Homework that takes three times as long as it should, and the shame around it.

Medication that isn't working

A dose that helps for two hours, or side effects nobody had time to discuss.

ADHD with anxiety or depression

Overlapping conditions treated as one picture rather than three appointments.

Executive function collapse

Deadlines, email, and household logistics quietly falling apart.

Postpartum and perimenopausal focus changes

Hormonal shifts that unmask or worsen long-standing attention problems.

How ADHD care is structured here

  1. 1

    Full psychiatric evaluation

Developmental, academic, and work history alongside sleep, mood, anxiety, and substance use — the things that imitate ADHD.

  2. 2

    A clear diagnostic picture

You leave understanding what is driving the symptoms, not only what the prescription will be.

  3. 3

    Careful medication trials

Stimulant and non-stimulant options, started deliberately and adjusted with real follow-up rather than refills by portal message.

  4. 4

    Skills and therapy alongside

Medication does not build systems. Therapy inside the practice addresses routines, avoidance, and the self-criticism that accumulates.

  5. 5

    Coordination when testing is needed

If neuropsychological testing or academic accommodations are indicated, we refer and integrate the findings.

Frequently asked questions

Do you evaluate adults who were never diagnosed as children?+

Yes. Many of our ADHD evaluations are adults who compensated successfully for years and hit a ceiling in graduate school, a demanding role, or after having children. A childhood diagnosis is not required.

How long is an ADHD evaluation?+

The initial psychiatric evaluation is a full unhurried appointment with Dr. Khorram, covering developmental history, school and work functioning, sleep, mood, anxiety, and substance use — because each of those can imitate or worsen attention problems.

Do you prescribe stimulant medication?+

When it is clinically appropriate, yes. Stimulants are one option among several; non-stimulant medications, sleep and routine work, and therapy are considered as part of the same plan rather than as afterthoughts.

Do I need formal neuropsychological testing first?+

Usually not for a diagnosis and treatment plan. When the picture is complex — learning disorder questions, academic accommodations, or unclear cognitive complaints — we will refer for testing and integrate the results.

How often are follow-up visits?+

Closer together while we are titrating a medication, then spaced out once you are stable. Follow-ups are longer than the standard fifteen-minute medication check so there is time to talk about how life is actually going.

Can ADHD care be virtual?+

Follow-up ADHD care is available virtually throughout Pennsylvania, and in New York with Dr. Khorram. Some controlled-substance prescribing requires periodic in-person visits, which we will make clear at the start.

What if my attention problems turn out to be anxiety or depression?+

That happens often, and it is useful information rather than a dead end. Because therapy, psychiatry, and TMS all live in one practice, we can shift the plan without sending you elsewhere to start over.
